We are extremely proud to share that we have donated a grand total of £2,320 to charity thanks to all of our generous supporters!
Arrhythmia Alliance and Birmingham Children's Hospital were absolutely thrilled when I told them the news that we had a staggering £1,160 to donate to them EACH. So much so they are both publishing our fundraising story through their media, something we can all look back on with huge pride. From the bottom of all of our hearts, this wouldn't have been possible without the amazing support and generosity.
Birmingham Children's Hospital work with the Birmingham Evening Mail to showcase heartfelt fundraising stories like ours through their 'Charity Champions' section. After speaking with a very empathetic lady from the fundraising team at the hospital, she thought it would be wonderful to share our story through this avenue and if all goes to plan our story will be in next weeks paper (1-Oct) so please take time to have a look and of course I'll share the link on the next blog!
Our fundraising story will be published in the Birmingham Evening Mail 'Charity Champions' section and also in the next Arrhythmia Alliance newsletter
We were able to choose where the donation went to at Birmingham Children's Hospital, so we decided to donate to the Cardiac Unit, which of course is very close to our hearts in more ways than one! All of the children are under management there and it was our way of showing our gratitude to the ongoing support we have from them. Little did I know until something like this happens that it's not just the appointments when they are there for you, but the emails and calls of support from the cardiac team which is wonderful.
Over the months we've been in touch with Arrhythmia Alliance who have been very supportive in the work they do and will also be publishing the fundraising event in their upcoming newsletter. They have in fact already tweeted about it several times which you can read on our twitter account @Brugadababy1. When I spoke to them, after Darcie's story first being shared, they informed me that they'd had several follow up calls asking about Darcie and her family so we are proud to say that Brugada Syndrome is getting some much needed air time...which is our whole purpose of sharing her story - to raise awareness for the rare condition.
And lastly, we have a new member of the family - our AED!! It goes everywhere with us, even for a walk round the park. It goes without saying that we need it more than ever for our little family and feel reassured knowing we have it to hand as survival without one after a cardiac arrest decreases by 10% every single minute. Stark news. So again, thank you, thank you. Our next mission is to educate the older children so they know how to use it and to get them clued up on first aid and CPR as well as a refresher for us.
